Blossoming Alpine roses, a flowing little stream and a dreamy natural view...
... that's what the Kaiser mountains at Walchsee have in store. Tyrol is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Austria and there are extensive, enjoyable hikes to head out on in the Zahmer Kaiser and Wilder Kaiser areas. Over 200 km of hiking trails and mountain tours in all difficulty levels set hikers' hearts racing. To replenish your energy stores afterwards you can enjoy a snack at the summit and some home-distilled 'Gipfelschnapserl' in one of the 30 Alpine lodges and inns located in the Kaiser mountains in the Kaiserwinkl, which are 1 1/2 to 2 hours from the hotel. The traditional Berggasthof Zahmer Kaiser at 1030m is just 1 1/2 hours from Durchholzen. Those of you who prefer to take things a little easier can take the 4-seater Zahmer Kaiser chair lift conveniently up to Berggasthof Zahmer Kaiser and from there enjoy the wonderful views to the Kaiser mountains.
Stage 91: Experience the wonderful altitude path from Stripsenjochhaus via the Feldalmsattel. This route proceeds via high alpine pastures to our viewing mountain, the Heuberg. From there we head via Gwirchtalmen to Walchsee.
Stage 92: From Walchsee we hike past the Schwemm (North Tyrol's largest area of conserved moorland), turning off just before Moarhof golf course to the Brennkopf. Continuing then to Burgeralm, Wandberghütte and via the Ackernalm to Priener Hütte. Via the Breitenstein we get to Karalm, from there heading down the valley to our destination, Kössen.
